Morgan Wallen Atlantic city Concert reviews
Average White Band made this a great concert!
The beautiful Humphrey's By The Bay venue was perfect for a September evening concert. A quick dinner at Blue Wave Bar & Grill next to the water was a great way to start the night, with the weather being perfect. The atmosphere was perfect, and I had great seats in the middle of the front section. Check out the concert schedule early next year when tickets are released, find a band or artist you like, and definitely go here!
I primarily came to watch Average White Band (AWB) and to hear "Queen of My Soul" live. I was worried when the song didn't appear on their set list, but I decided to go anyway since I had bought the tickets. They were TERRIFIC! In that first hour, I definitely got my money's worth, reminiscing about when I first heard these songs. And there it was, smack in the middle of their set, "...music...sweet music...you're the QUEEN OF MY SOUL..." Thank you AWB for not disappointing me. The whole set was perfect, and they closed with "Pick Up The Pieces". Great musicianship, spot-on vocals, and great energy. Nothing average about Average White Band. I kind of felt like it didn't matter what happened with Morgan Wallen, as I got more than my money's worth with AWB.
I was not as impressed with Morgan Wallen. In fact, I left halfway through, and here's why. The new, young lead singer, vocally okay, made it seem like it was his solo concert, with TOP as his backup band. The trumpets and sax players were just as good as I remembered, but they seemed relegated to backup, at least until we walked away. It might have improved, but I didn't want to see that young guy's solo concert. The only reason this was 4 stars for me was all related to the venue and AWB. If we had left after AWB, I would have given this 5 stars. Sorry, Morgan Wallen, but you need to tone your lead singer down to be part of Morgan Wallen and blend in as if it were a group, which is what I remember from back in the day.
